Most of our full-house rewiring projects take 3-4 days to complete, while normal electricians may advertise a full rewire of your house to take 6-10 days. We can do this much quicker due to due our considerate planning and prepping ensuring you get what you both need and deserve .

We do so many house rewires and can often tell the age of the installation simply by pictures of your consumer unit. If your consumer unit trips frequently, it might be a good idea to consider installing a new consumer unit.

Here’s a handy checklist to help you get started:

Consumer Unit / Fuse Box

Think about where you’d like your consumer unit located. We’ll also help you decide if you need added protection such as RCBOs, RCDs, and surge protection all of which help protect your home and appliances from electrical faults.

Socket Outlets

Where do you need power — and how much? Take time to plan the layout of sockets in each room. Need USB outlets by the bed? Extra sockets for your home office or kitchen? Now’s the time to build convenience into your home.

Lighting Design

Lighting affects both safety and comfort. We'll help you plan:

• Where you want lights
• What type of lighting suits the space (e.g., downlights, pendants, feature lighting)
• How you'd like them switched (standard, dimmers, or smart controls)

External Lighting

We always recommend fitting lighting to the front and rear of your property for added security and visibility. Motion-sensor options are a great choice for driveways or back gardens.

External Sockets

A weatherproof external socket can be incredibly useful for powering lawnmowers, jet washers, and outdoor entertainment systems no more trailing cables through windows!

Electric Showers

Do you need a dedicated electrical supply for your shower, or does it run from your boiler system? We’ll help determine what’s needed based on your bathroom setup.

Electric Cooker Supply

Are you using a gas hob, or will you need a 32A supply for an electric oven? It’s important to plan your kitchen load correctly — especially if you're renovating or installing a new appliance layout.

Smoke & Heat Alarms

Safety first! As a minimum, we recommend mains-wired smoke alarms:

• Upstairs
• Downstairs
• In the kitchen

All fitted to current regulations with battery backup.

Outbuildings & Garages

Extractor Fans

Let’s Get to Work: The Full Rewire Process with Newire Electrical

At Newire Electrical Services, we aim to make your full house rewire as smooth, safe, and professional as possible whether you're living in the property during works or not. Here’s how our rewiring schedule breaks down, step by step:

Stage 1: Preparation & Planning

Before we start, you'll receive a pre-arrival guide explaining how to prepare your home. On Day 1, our team will:

• Lay down protective dust sheets
• Shift or cover remaining furniture
• Lift carpets or flooring where needed
• We then carry out a quick site walkthrough to confirm the best cable routes, flag any challenges, and assign tasks across the team.

Stage 2: Safe Isolation & Temporary Power

We safely isolate your existing electrical supply, making the old wiring completely dead and safe to remove.

Then we set up a temporary power supply to keep our tools, chargers, and temporary lighting going throughout the project.

Stage 3: Floorboard Lifting & Cable Routing

We lift floorboards where necessary to create pathways for your new 240v cabling. These routes are carefully planned to minimise disruption while giving you a modern, future-proof system.

Stage 4: Wall Chasing & Cut-Outs

To recess your new wiring neatly inside walls, we use specialist chasing tools to cut clean channels into brickwork. These will house the wires for your sockets, switches, and lighting.

Once complete, we remove our heaviest tools and give the space a rough clean, ready for the next stage.

Stage 5: First Fix Wiring

Now the real technical work begins.

Our electricians install all new wiring to meet 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, carefully sizing cables for each circuit: sockets, lights, showers, cookers, smoke alarms, etc. All routes are tested as we go to ensure the system is safe and compliant.

Stage 6: Plastering & Making Good

After wiring is complete, we plaster over all wall chases and cut-outs, restoring walls to a smooth finish ready for decorating. We make good any affected areas to ensure your home looks neat and clean post-installation.

Stage 7: Second Fix – Faceplates & Fittings

Once walls are dried and cured, we return to carry out the second fix

• Fit new sockets and switch faceplates
• Install light fittings and pendants
• Connect appliances and test all devices

This is where your new system starts to come to life.

Stage 8: Testing, Certification & Final Clean-Up

We conduct a full inspection and electrical test of every circuit, recording results and ensuring full compliance.

You’ll receive an Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) for your records.

Finally, we carry out a detailed clean-up, vacuuming work areas and removing all waste, so you’re left with a safe, modern home.
